RARE September 9, 1969 New York Mets Black Cat Game Ticket Stub. The Cubs started that day with a 11/2 game lead in the division, but the black cat, long considered a harbinger of bad luck, seemingly doomed them. The Mets won, 7-1 that night and took the NL East by eight games.
